Bonding over our love of cooking, Father and Daughter duo - Paul & Jess (that's us), found ourselves hanging out in the kitchen quite a bit. With my (Jess) husband being a shift worker and after I (Jess) returned to work after having our first child, we were STRUGGLING to get proper meals on the table that were decent quality and didn't take hours to cook. So because my Mum and Dad (Paul) would mind our Daughter every Friday, I would stay over Friday night and we would do a big cook up on Saturday for me to take home for us to eat during the week. Life SAVED. 

Dad (Paul) then said 'I wonder if people would buy our food?'. I threw it out to the brains trust (aka facebook) and people seemed to really love the idea. So much in fact that we decided to share that passion with friends and family and now here we are delivering homemade meals across Port Stephens and beyond.

Why Saltbush Food Company?

Saltbush wasn't created with the on-the-go, meals on heels types in mind. Although super convenient and totally appropriate for the busy folk, we mostly envision our meals being savoured and enjoyed around the family dinner table.

A home cooked meal is perfect if you're running a household and juggling kids with work. A home cooked meal is perfect if you're working late hours and can't bare the thought of another packet microwave meal. A home cooked meal is perfect when you’re in the newborn bubble and can’t (don’t want to is more like) leave the couch to cook. A home cooked meal is perfect if you invited the family over for Sunday dinner and forgot that you're a terrible cook (hate it when that happens!).

Basically, Saltbush Food Company is for anyone who appreciates real, hearty, family style food without having to lift a finger.
